Tag relations explorer

Add a new view, similar to the tag-sidebar, but grouping the tags automatically. It is the tags that should be shown as a group-relation. This is different from regular filtering a tag and showing the notes as a group. The result is a virtual tree where you can navigate tag relations, where notes themselves define these relations. The tag-tree-explorer is like a report view. The view is useful for navigating, grouping notes and when printing is available, allows them to be printed nicely as a hierarchical group. This is without the need to explicitly define a tag hierarchy.

The reason for this request is, that i want to have a hierarchical view on the data, while at the same time assigning only "flat" tags. It is also important to me, to look at the data from different angles. For example i can look at "project-A" coming from "customer-A" or "projects" or "software", depending on what my current perspective is. Imo this is a feature no other outliner software supports, yet it is very powerful.
Example:
  • customer-A
    __project-A
    __project-B
    __projects
    __software
  • projects
    __project-A
    __project-B
    __customer-A
    __software
  • software
    __project-A
    __project-B
    __projects
    __customer-A
I am very interessted in this suggestion - especially in the part with 'grouping'. But I can't imagine how this could/would/should look like. The examples always show a hierarchy of tags - but grouping would mean to present the notes in such a way.

So are we talking about an additional view for the tags or a different view for the notes?

Do you have a ready vision of how it should look like?
Would it be like:
_______________
GROUP: customer-A/project-A
 - note belonging to this group (which means to both tags)
 - another note belonging to this group
 - ...
_______________
GROUP: customer-A/project-B
 - note belonging to this group (which means to both tags)
 - another note belonging to this group
 - ...

Chris, not sure i understand your question. With todays tag-sidebar you'll always have all notes listed, that fulfill the tag filter. That is pretty much the same with the relations-explorer. However, in the tag-sidebar related tags should be grouped. The filter is actually the same as with the classical tag-view. E.g. when you click on "customer-A" you'll get all notes listed that have that single tag assigned. When you click on "customer-A/project-A" you'll get all notes having both tags assigned. I think the resultset, the notes listed is the same as with a regular search. The difference is, that with the classical tag-sidebar you filter on tags explicitly. With the relations-explorer you browse an automatically generated tag-tree having the tags filtered implicitly.
So we are talking more about an additional view to the tag sidebar
where we can click on a tag and all its notes are shown.

We are NOT talking about grouping the notes like e.g. Outlook does:

The reason I am asking is: I am still searching for a way to get more structure in a long list of notes. That's why I suggested a note grouping by tags here: http://roadmap.cintanotes.com/topic/3388-note-grouping/
Yes, my suggestion is an additional view to the tag-sidebar. Your suggestion is different, because it is the list view that is shown by groups. I like that and have just voted for it. Both requests share the fact, that a note can appear in the list more than once. PS: You should add that image to your request for it makes the suggestion clearer.
