When notes with the same creation time sorted by "created", sort them by title
I.e.
created 10.01.2015 01:20 Title Alpha
created 10.01.2015 01:20 Title Beta
created 10.01.2015 01:20 Title Gamma
created 11.01.2015 14:35 Title Alpha
etc.
Currently there is no sorting at all.
(put simply, "ORDER BY CREATION_DATE, TITLE")
Documenting the possibility of using "_" for multi-word tags (e.g., "multi-word_tags")
I have personally attested the validity of using "_" to link up multiple words in one same tag (e.g., The_Big_Bang_Theory). This workaround should be properly documented and communicated to other users while the multi-word tag functionality is being developed.
Sort by relevance (last access date)
I suggest to add support for sorting a search result by relevance. As an indication of relevance a last access date should be added to the note. Every time the note will be read, it increases the relevance for this note.
Allow Cintanotes to open see non .db files during the "Open Notebook" Window
I use a program called Pismo File Mount to create private folders. These private folders are merely encrypted files called .PFO, that when double clicked, prompt you for a password. Once a password is entered, the file turns into a read and write folder that can be navigated.
Behind the scenes, this file is being mounted, similarly to how ISO files are mounted using Daemon Tools, or how Truecrypt volumes are mounted, except with one major distinction: The file becomes a folder and the address bar reflects this accordingly.
Example:
D:\Example Folder\Example Private Folder.pfo
Once double clicked and a password is given, the file can be navigated as such:
D:\Example Folder\Example Private Folder.pfo\Another Folder\Cintanotes.db
It would be nice if Cintanotes could see these .PFO files during the "Open Notebook" window, so that I can easily double click the PFO file to enter a password, and then open my notebook file without having to navigate away from CintaNotes.
Anyway, It's a very simple change. All you have to do is add an entry to the dropdown menu to the right of the "File name" text box, called "All Files".
Presto. :-)
Thanks,
-Neil
Normal tab, up, down
Tab is just tab, it will not jump to tags, links etc.
Up,down are just up and down, it will not slip down to tags, links...
If many people are used to that ok. Let them have it.
But can I have just one check box which says "everything is as it should be in txt editor" ;)
Different sorting for "search" vs. "browsing the tag sidebar"
One relevant for the search result and one for browsing the notes via tag sidebar.
As a result:
- if I do a search I can get a sorting by relevance (or title or whatsoever)
- if I just browse via tag sidebar I can have a different sorting (e.g. manual or whatever is appropriate for you)
Make behaviour of link field consistent to the editor
The link field can be used to store plain text and URLs as well. However the handling can be improved. If the content is a valid URL show the value as an URL (underscored, blue color). Allow same Click-functionality to open a link as is with the editor. The arrow to the right most of the edit field should be visible only, if the value is a valid URL. The same applies to the notes list. In other words make the handling smarter and make it consistent to the editor.
Follow links inside note = wiki
Make it possible to open links inside an active note/window. Then Cintanotes would be a great desktop-wiki.
"Rolodex", "Teledex" views of tags
This would be the ability to (optionally) define two "views" values for
a tag. The first would be a "teledex view" parameter for the tag, which
is either "ON" or "OFF".
If you defined a "teledex view" value of ON, say, and had notes with the
tag "addresses" then the section view, would be all the names of your
contacts (encoded in the note title), without any note body being
displayed, for example.
Secondly, there would be a "riffle view" parameter as well, which would
be a non-zero positive value which simply defines a number of lines to
be displayed of the notes body, on a per tag basis.
If the "teledex view" is enabled, then when a "single click" of the
notes title is done, then the "riffle view" number of lines is displayed
in the section view for that note only. Secondly what is displayed, can
be selected in whole or part and copied, without the note being opened
for editing. Another "single click" on the notes title would close the
"riffle view".
If the "teledex view" for a tag is disabled, and a "riffle view"
parameter value for a tag is defined, then it over-rides the default
number of note body lines that are displayed for all notes.
There would be another tag attribute you could set, which would be
"Alternating", which would alternately shade successive note titles for
clarity of reading, if the "teledex view" parameter for a tag is enabled.
Such view definitions are fixed, non-dynamic, and totally agnostic to
any "structure" inside a note. It would be up to the notes user to
maintain standards within the target tagged notes.
There is also scope for "A-Z0-9" "Teledex" / "Rolodex" index-jump
capability when scrolling through a section-view of a tag, as well, that
you could enable, in addition to the LHS Scroll-bar.

Scroll notes list by dragging (not only with wheel)
It is impossible for eyes to maintain attention on reading point when scrolling with wheel.
Who uses dragging by mouse or touch screen in other devices will agree with me.
Do we really need "move list position to saved note"?
31.07 BRAND NEW NOTE ABOUT ALL BOOKS I WANT TO READ
(some other notes)
29.07 find and read that book about japan ghosts
(some other notes)
12.07 Das Kapital!
10.06 to read - Phänomenologie des Geistes, Mike says it's funny!
(some other notes)
(some other notes)
2.05 Didn't get through "Das Kapital". Try it again a bit later.
And now i'm trying to gather it all and to write a big note about books, and I search through my list for all notes about it, say I'm at my april-may notes, I see that note about Das Kapital and cut-n-paste it to my new big note. Then I press Ctrl-S in the new note and WHOOPS - my current "april-may" position it the list is lost and I look at the end of list again/
Very irritating.
Tray notification popup window on clipping with ability to pick section and tags
Would be nice not to have to open CN to categorize freshly clipped notes.
Of course we can pre-select needed section and tags, but sometimes ad-hoc categorization is more convenient.
Bookmarks in the note editor
This feature would be, from my point of view, an unique extension of the usability of the software and so make it useful and of interest for even a larger number of potential users. (suggested by Carsten H.)
Display note count directly in section tabs
evaluate and sort notes by importance
evaluate notes by importance, e.g. 1 to 5 stars.
Then sort notes by star number.
already searched with keywords "sort and importance"
Natural Sorting for Title
Note 1
Note 2
Note 10
CN will sort these like so:
Note 1
Note 10
Note 2
Natural sorting would be:
Note 1
Note 2
Note 10
Windows itself defaults to natural sorting now, and I think CN should as well.
Add paragraph spacing to bulleted and numbered lists
Example:
- ssssssssssssss
ssssssssxxxxxxx
yyyyyyyyyyy - xxxxxxxxxxx
aaaaaaaaaaaaa
xxxxxxxxxxxx - yyyyyyyyyyy
qqqqqqqq

(V1.4) Regression: "-m" command line parameter doesn't work
Cintanote version: 1.4 Portable
Command line switch -m (start minimize to tray) doesn't work.
I tested it only with portable version, and know nothing about installer version.
