Subsections
The are two possibilities to do that:
1) Submenus to section tabs. The sub-menus under individual tabs would appear only if there were categories under the heading. Let's say I have a tab which is called WRITING. For me, I have many types of writing and if I put everything under one tab, I can search it, but I can't see them separated. Sub-menus would allow me to have many sub-tabs, like SCI-FI, THRILLER, HORROR, ACTION, etc. Putting all the tabs at the top just gets cluttered really fast. Hope this makes sense.
2) Another row of tabs (e.g. on the right side)
Publishing of notes on the web
The idea is not just to backup the .db file to web.
In short, dynamically altering realtime publishing to the web that is immediately available for indexing by any search engine spider.

Sort search result by relevance (e.g. title more important than text)
as if the word was 'only' found in the notes text.
The idea is to sort the result of a search (!) by relavance.
The relevance should be determined by the fact where the search phrases occur in the note.
A priority that would make sense to me: tag > title > link > text
This is different to this request: http://roadmap.cintanotes.com/topic/17461-sorting-notes-by-match-count-relevance /
and has a dependency to this request: http://roadmap.cintanotes.com/topic/21178-ability-to-search-for-tags-and-phrase-simultaneously-from-search-field/
(because at the moment we can't search for tags using the search field).
I will also submit a request to be able to specify two different sorting methodes at the same time.
One relevant for the search result and one for browsing the notes via tag sidebar.
As a result:
- if I do a search I can get a sorting by relevance
- if I just browse via tag sidebar I can have a different sorting (e.g. manual or whatever)
Show notes attached to an application, web site, document, folder,...
Imagine you have an excel sheet and want to take some notes related to the work you do there.
Or imagine you frequently open a website and want to take some notes regarding the research you do.
The possibilities are nearly endless...
(E.g. you could build you personal help for applications you don't use very often but which need some special steps to take which are hard to remember)
To make this work, CN would have to monitor all windows and their titles. As soon as it notices a title that matches an 'attached note' (wildcards should be possible), it opens the attached notes and shows them.
I am undecided whether the notes should automatically be closed if the corresponding window is closed - let's discuss that ;-)
This is not an urgent request. IMHO there are some feature requests pending which are more important. But this could be a productivity boost in the long run.
Hope you like the idea.

Copy Tags / Paste Tags function
1) Press Enter to open the source note
2) Press Ctrl+Down to go to the Tags field
3) Press Ctrl+A to select all tags
4) Press Ctrl+C to copy tags to clipboard
5) Press Esc to close the note
6) Find the target note in the list
7) Press Enter to open it
8) Press Ctrl+Down to go to the Tags field
9) Press Ctrl+V to paste tags
10) Press Enter to close and save the note.
How it could be done:
1) Press Ctrl+Shift+C to copy tags
2) Find the target note in the list
2) Press Ctrl+Shift+V to paste tags.
Allow manual selection of browser to open links
Would be great if CN would allow to pick a browser to use when the link is right-clicked (or Alt+clicked, etc).
Note's modified date always changes if note has a styled link (1.5.4)
Update: After having this behaviour for a while it is beginning to bug me. It is messing up my notes list. A workaround is to click the button 'cancel' with the mouse. Too bad there is no hotkey for canceling."

Keyboard shortcuts for text formatting should behave standardly, i.e. not toggle the formatting of the current paragraph
Currently, if one wants to use a keyboard shortcut to bold, underline, or italicize only a particular word in a sentence or paragraph, one must highlight that word and then use the keyboard shortcut. That is, one cannot type several word of unformatted text and then use the keyboard shortcut to toggle the formatting and then use it again to toggle it off. This is because the initial toggle applies to the whole paragraph unit and the final toggle removes all the formatting from that first toggle. This is very non-standard and slows down typing. I know of no other program that behaves this way. I suspect that this is only a bug.
Highlight repeating search words not only in preview mode
1) search for some words that are reapeating along one note
2) all words are highlighted in preview mode but after note is opened, only the first instance is highlighted
This makes very difficult searching in quite big notes that have repeating words.
Search/sort by PC the note was taken at
Basic semantic search via synonym definition
Here's a use case for semantic search:
I have a note filed as "Create google+ page for business"
In the search field I had entered "Create google + page "
so this note didnt appear in the results.
Another note filed as "How to build business presence on google plus" so this note also didnt appear in the results.
Other possible ways in which the keyword 'google+' can be entered, as I could think of, are:
gplus
google plus
I have an idea: do you think there could be a 'special note'
allowed to be created, with dot commands to mimick semantic search in sqlite FTS3?
For example a note that with the special title ";;Config" could be a special note
and in it user can enter commands
beginning with dot (wordstar-style dot commands) to differentiate from regular note.
To define synonyms for search
."google plus" OR "google+" OR "gplus" OR "google +"
;;comment-in the future, when the user searches for any of the terms in the list CN will treat it as though the term has been OR'red with any of the other terms
;;if your search term uses the word 'gplus' (example searching for 'gplus for business') the results will also include notes with the term 'google +'
Do you think this is sensible idea,
or do I have to search for each term ('google plus', 'google+' 'gplus') once individually for each term,
and use the tag field to 'weave' the notes together with the same tag - but then I get an extra tag which will always
occupy space in the 'Tags' list which doesnt visually appeal to me...
My list of tags is lean and minimal in number,as minimal in number as possible and I want to avoid
creating unnecessary tags...
Thanks
Where is the best to discuss features?
It's a bit messy having part of the discussion on forum and another part in the comments on UserEcho site.
From not-registered-on-forum user perspective, signing in here is much simplier, because it supports OpenID and one doesn't have to register.
Unfortunately at the moment I can't move all the discussions over to UserEcho, because it doesn't support attaching files, images and rich text formatting, all of which is often necessary in feature discussions. This is why UserEcho has a more official status of being the public roadmap, and the detailed discussions of the features should happen on the phpbb forum.
UserEcho guys plan to add Markdown syntax support soon, so it is probable that the whole "Feature Requests" and "Bug Reports" forums will be moved here. The general forum will stay since it contains a lot of topics which are neither "Thanks" nor "Questions".
Use Ctrl+W to close editor
Now, it uses alt+F4 to close editor. However, alt+F4 is usually used to close the whole program. I suggest fast key for closing editor should be customized or use Ctrl+W
Option to make program's icon color independent of the selected color theme
Ability to configure note fonts on per-section level
"I've been using CintaNotes for only a while, so if this is already achievable with existing settings, then please enlighten me. I have searched around (here, Help, FAQ) but didn't come up with anything beyond the manual approach (each and every time).
Basically, what I have are two different types of notes: code (in my Code section) and non-code (in every other section). I'd like the default note text for Code to be monospace; I'd like the default note text for other sections to be different and proportional (what they already are essentially). For now, when I create a note in Code, I just Ctrl+A and Ctrl+M, which is fine--I guess, but having it default to monospace would be less "tedious".
Perhaps, a better method(?) would be to simply make it an option per section to enable Ctrl+M by default instead of having all of Notes List Options be "sectional", but you tell me."
Easy access to all open CintaNotes windows
Working with my notes I often end up having several notes open at the same time.
Some are related tasks - some are related information I need to work on that tasks.
I want to suggest 2 features to make it easier to switch from one note to another.
1) existing request >> shortcut
I suggest to add a shortcut that allows us to rotate through the open CN windows (similar to ALT+Tab).
>> Thomas has already requested it so please vote there ;-)
http://roadmap.cintanotes.com/topic/98614-shortcut-to-cycle-through-open-editor-windows/
2) MAIN REQUEST >> "toolbar"
I suggest to make it possible to show a toolbar on top of every note window which shows and allows to switch to all the open 'other' note windows (similar to the windows taskbar).
As this is a request with strong visual impact (some may not need or even may not like it) I suggest to make it optional/configurable.
Both request would at least make my day with CN even more enjoyable ;-)
What do you think?

Save without changing modification date
I suggest to use Ctrl+Alt+S to save a note without changing the modification date. This is easier, than editing the modification manually, e.g. when you correct spelling of a word only and want to keep the present date.
Navigation inside note
I want to be able to define positions inside a note. Those may be for returning to oft-added, oft-modified positions of contents of a note.
Probably using dot commands.
.pos1
.pos2
.pos3
.pos4
.pos5
etc, scattered in different parts of the same note.
There could be a navigation scrollbar just left to the scrollbar of the note, where these positions are identified and you could quickly jump to particular positions by clicking on those position identifiders. This scrollbar can be turned on or off in Display Options.

Selecting word inside search bar using standard shortcuts is not possible
Global tag filter
Add a list of global tags that will always be included in the search, without the need to select them first. Notes including one of the global filter tags must never be shown in the notes list. Actually global filter tags must not be listed in the tag sidebar
either. Examples are trash, done or archive. Add a menu option "view/[X]
global tag filter" and a shortcut, e.g. F8 to turn the filter on/off easily.
