CN should support ability to run a Google search (or other configurable search) via right-clicking on a word in editor and selecting the "Search in Google" item.

Crowdfunding?

burrum 12 years ago updated by Alex Jenter 11 years ago 0
Have you considered crowdfunding business model?

I am aware of several forms of it. I see them this way.

On Kickstarter you fund project start for a reward. Apparently this is why such name. Popular projects tend to attract big money. Abruptly.

On Flattr you give X bucks monthly to "charity" and they distribute to projects you clicked proportionally to how many you clicked them. Funny model, but not really clear what you pay for. foobar2000 uses it.

Next model is "fund the feature". I first met it at OsmAnd project:
http://www.bidforfix.com/p/osmand.net/
This is my favorite so far. It allows opening the project and still getting money, but only for solving problems that have not yet been solved. Want faster search or more UI polishing? You can fund it!

Last is the classic "Donate to support the project" model. I don't know where it is good at.

These are just models. I have no experience in business and am curious if any of these could be better for this project, than current "pay for extra features" model.

What I like about current model:
* I have an option to support the project.
* Premium features are good reason to pay.

What I don't like in current model:
* Less eyes looking at premium features means poorer testing of them.
* Extra code for licencing, limitation and protection drains machine resources to compute it, human resources to maintain it, and increases overall complexity of the system (lowering reliability). All that while not doing any application work.
* Licences, copyrights and other ethereal "you have the right to ..." do not fit well into digital information era. They were designed for physical objects that take time and effort to manufacture.

Simplenotes synchronisation: move note to other section doubles entry

ChrisCN 11 years ago updated by Alex Jenter 11 years ago 8

It's the first time I gave Simplenote a try - so maybe I didn't understand how it's working - but I think I found a bug:

If I create a note in a section that is synced and then move this note to a section that is not synced, this note:

 - is not deleted from Simplenote

 - get's synced back to the old section in CintaNotes

which results in a double entry of this note (one in the original section and one in the new section)

Strikeout and underlined text problem (CN 2.3 Beta 1)

Arseniy (CN Support Team) 11 years ago updated by Alex Jenter 10 years ago 4

Strikeout reproduce:

  1. Make some numbered list
  2. Strikeout some of the numbered list string in editor window, press ОК

Result: in main window number of position is strikeout too. And if open this note in editor again - number of next position is strikeout. If then start to selecting text in editor window it acts strange: sometimes strikeout of next position disappearing, sometimes not.

Underline reproduce:

  1. Make some numbered list
  2. Underline some of the numbered list string in editor window, press ОК

Result: In editor window and main window number of position is underlined too. In editor window number of position is highlighted with blue (like a link). Rarely in editor window strings are underlining correctly, but in main window the problem remains.

Clipping doesn't work properly with Opera AC

Alex Jenter 14 years ago updated 14 years ago 0
I found the only way to avoid "opera:config" window opening when I clip smth from opera - to turn off all the "opera:config" hotkeys in opera.
Changing hotkey combination in CintaNotes brings nothing.

Recognise URLs without http

Chris Moore 10 years ago updated by Alex Jenter 10 years ago 2
This may already be in the roadmap, but I couldn't find it. Currently CN only recognises www URL's if they include the http:// at the front - so if you just type www.example.com for instance, CN won't recognise it as a URL. Would be nice if CN would recognise URLs without the http:// as a valid link.

Hi Chris,
Thomas is right - you can assign the URL manually. In the past CN recognized even 'cintanotes.com' as the URL, but this lead to a lot of problems. Since 'www' is nowadays seen as a rudiment, I see no compelling reason to implement this asap. But of course all will depend on number of votes!

Option "Display only related tags" is switched off when selecting "All" or "Untagged"

Noah 12 years ago updated by Alex Jenter 12 years ago 0

O.k. I know the double-click; but is there a configuration which keeps "Display only related tags" switched on?

At the moment I have a workaround: give every note the tag "@" which is first in tag-sidebar and keeps the option "Display only related tags" untouched.

Of course, a small problem...

Thanks!

The CR&LF marks make it look lovely and clear.
More space after last line helps to scroll the last to middle or top for editing.
In addition, I want some comment highlight. I can write sth beginning with //, and the text will be red or green.

Tags for tags (metatags)

Alex Jenter 11 years ago updated 11 years ago 1
When the number of tags is very large, it would be helpful to be able to tag tags themselves.
An additional section on the tag sidebar would allow to quickly filter the tags list by these metatags.

tag sidebar move to top/bottom

Thomas Lohrum 11 years ago updated by Alex Jenter 11 years ago 3

Add a way to move to the top or the bottom of the tag sidebar-list. For example, a double-click on either of the arrow up/down buttons of the sidebar could execute this action. Also a double-click on the "All" tag should focus the top of the sidebar.

default cursor position for new note

Mark Christoferson 12 years ago updated by Alex Jenter 12 years ago 9
I would like the option of the cursor starting in the title box when I open for a new note. I use Cinta mainly for indexing my own information. Starting with the title of the note would allow me to then move by tab key to the body of the note. This order would be the most efficient, and completely keyboard based.

Expand tag selection through right click menu

Right click menu on tags should have options like
intersection: like ctrl+click
union: like shift+click
subtract: like alt+click

That would help with the usability, especialy for new users
